July 2015 - Community Book Pledge for Clapham Terrace School - Leamington Spa.
In July last year I started my first adventure with introducing books to schools and it all began with my children's school as the head teacher wished to purchase some new books. With budgets being tight and only being able to put in a small amount we set to work looking at ways we could increase this order to reach the £600 target to get 60% in additional free books into the school. We decided that at that present moment in time working with local businesses associated with the school through a community book pledge would be the best way forward and we set to work collecting donations, With in a week the target had been met and the school were able to receive a massive £960 in books for their classroom and Library. The picture below shows the books when then first arrived. I would also like to thank the following companies for their kind donations on making this happen.
